Practitioners & Employment

The nursery provides a high staffing ratio to ensure that children have sufficient individual attention required to guarantee nursery care and education of a high quality.

The nursery has three areas where the children are based, by age.

Each area has a practitioner with the relevant ‘team leader’ qualification recognised by Ofsted - CACHE level 3 Diploma in Pre-school Practice.

A minimum of two-thirds of the remaining practitioners hold, or are working towards, a CACHE level 2 Certificate in Pre-school Practice qualification.

In our nursery we use the following adult to child ratio;

   - children under 3 years of age: 1 adult : 4 children
   - children between 3 and 4 years of age : 1 adult : 8 children

Practitioners training meets all regulatory requirements.

In addition we aim to ensure that all of our practitioners hold qualifications appropriate for their position within the group.

The nursery budget includes an allocation towards training costs.

A key person system has been adopted to ensure the children and their families/carers have a specific practitioner available for consultation and discussion.

Regular practitioners meetings provide opportunities for practitioners to undertake curriculum planning and to discuss the children’s progress or any difficulties.

We work towards an equal opportunities employment policy , seeking to offer job opportunities equally to both women and men, with and without disabilities, from all religious, social, ethnic and cultural groups.

We support the work of our practitioners and identify their ongoing training and development needs by means of monitoring.

We are committed to recruiting, appointing and employing practitioners in accordance with all relevant legislation and best practice.
